New Zealand Reports Two Measles Cases Traced to Overseas Travel
Health New Zealand said Tuesday that locations of concern include Singapore Airlines flight SQ281, which landed in Auckland on Feb. 17, Auckland International Airport, and the emergency department waiting room at Waitakere Hospital.
Public health teams are urgently tracing contacts, focusing on passengers seated near the infected individuals on the flight. Officials are warning anyone with measles-like symptoms to call healthcare providers before arriving in person.
The earlier outbreak, which began in September 2025, was declared over earlier this month. However, health officials caution that New Zealand remains vulnerable due to low vaccination coverage and ongoing international travel.
